Something I've wanted to know...
I've got a lot of cousins, and some of them are 2nd cousins once-removed...or is that 1st cousins twice-removed?
I found a chart (here), and now my life is complete. :-)
So my mom's first cousin is my 1st cousin once removed, and her kids are my 2nd cousins.
That is a handy chart. I'd learned a few years back that the cousins we'd always called "second cousins" were really "first cousins once removed," but I never knew how the whole system worked.
I have to admit, though, that I find something mildly unsettling about the term "once removed."
Mr Nag and I were having a conversation about this yesterday. Now our questions have been answered. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWe are, of course, assuming that the chart is correct...

Glad to be of help!
