Have you Ever?

A weird-but-wonderful list lifted from alejna at collecting tokens -- this checklist of things do to before you die tickled my fancy (or my desire to talk about myself!), so here it is.

So, bold if I've done it.

01. Bought everyone in the bar a drink
02. Swam with wild dolphins
03. Climbed a mountain [since 'rock-climbing' is below, I'm assuming this is walking up]
04. Taken a Ferrari for a test drive
05. Been inside the Great Pyramid
06. Held a tarantula
07. Taken a candlelit bath with someone
08. Said “I love you” and meant it
09. Hugged a tree
10. Bungee jumped
11. Visited Paris
12. Watched a lightning storm at sea
13. Stayed up all night long and saw the sun rise
14. Seen the Northern Lights
15. Gone to a huge sports game
16. Walked the stairs to the top of the leaning Tower of Pisa
17. Grown and eaten your own vegetables
18. Touched an iceberg
19. Slept under the stars
20. Changed a baby’s diaper
21. Taken a trip in a hot air balloon

23. Gotten drunk on champagne
24. Given more than you can afford to charity
25. Looked up at the night sky through a telescope
26. Had an uncontrollable giggling fit at the worst possible moment

140. Written your own computer language [did I mention that there are overtones of geek in this list?]
141. Thought to yourself that you’re living your dream
142. Had to put someone you love into hospice care
143. Built your own PC from parts [I mean, really!]
144. Sold your own artwork to someone who didn’t know you
145. Had a booth at a street fair
146. Dyed your hair
147. Been a DJ
148. Shaved your head
149. Caused a car accident
150. Saved someone’s life

Hmm. 74 in all. Some of these I'll never scuba diving, or touching a tarantula. Others I hope I never do, like #149.

Wow, you've accomplished quite a lot. (If some of the items can be considered accomplishments. Some of are definitely more mishaps than achievements.) But I'm impressed that you've managed almost half.

The more I look at this list, the more I think it was some sort of group composition. I can imagine people adding to the list. The order is so random. (Suddenly I have this urge to sort the damn thing.)

Ah, it's your linguistic background. Don't do it -- resist!!

But yes, I hear you. It was a group developing the list over beer... I can almost re-create the group of buddies in a university pub, pitchers of beer, and a pad of paper out of someone's backpack getting damp on the table: the computer nerd, the sports fiend, the traveler, the astronomy major...

Wow, that's a list I have to write down. I had made my own list a few years ago, which i dug out. Here's what I have on the "Done" side. The "Not Done Yet" is too long to post. :-)

-write a book
-skydive naked
-snorkel in Hawaii
-see the Northern Lights
-see the Midnight Sun
-go skinny-dipping
-give blood
-go streaking
-march in a protest
-sleep aboard a boat
-appear in a music video
-voice a radio commercial
-act on a stage
-sing in front of a crowd
-speak in front of a crowd and make them laugh (intentionally)
-paint in oils, acrylics, watercolours
-watch the sunrise in Hawaii
-ride in a helicopter
-jump out of a helicopter
-go whitewater rafting
-be my own boss
-go on a spiritual retreat
-river tube
-get a tattoo
-go deep-sea fishing
-ride in an aerobatics plane (doing aerobatics)
-take flying lessons
-get debt-free
-write a fan letter to my favourite author (

-do a 5-mile hike in the mountains
-swim in the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans
-vacation at a clothing-optional campground
-tour a vineyard and sample fine wine

-go to a summer solstice celebration and sing and howl at the moon
-buy cheap dishes and throw them all at the wall
-take a self-defense course
-watch whales swim in the ocean
-design and code my own webpage
-get paid to edit a newspaper
-spend 2 weeks in a teepee
-have a family reunion with all of my siblings
And from your list, I've done quite a few, including
-bought everyone in the bar a drink, watched a meteor shower, given more than I could afford to charity, bet on a winning horse
-been on television news programs as an "expert", picked up and moved to another city to just start over, ridden a horse, had major surgery, had a pet snake, sold my own artwork to someone who didn’t know me. Still lots on the To Do list though.

#56 is the scariest of them all -- you put your CDs in alphabetical order!

Don't worry, Mad. It was only once, and that was when new hubby and I moved into our new house last year. Now they're a mess!
