In the paper the other day (proof positive that not only has Facebook has become mainstream, but that I'm seriously behind the times!):
Even my cats have friends on FB! It's a weird, no stress kinda way of keeping in touch, at a distance, with people. Some you want, others you're not quite sure: "Why is this person asking to be my friend on FB? S/he and I wrote each other off years ago!"
Is it new-found maturity (on whose part?), or just I've-gotta-have-more-friends-on-my-profile syndrome?
Ah well. I'll keep going, mostly because I enjoy the long-distance Scrabble games I've got going!

I've haven't had the 'long lost friends' finding me thing happen - probably something to do with my name there (sneaky ole me). Or maybe because they feel like me - that there was probably a good reason we lost touch.
It does mostly seem like a waste of time, I must admit. Except for the scrabble. Your turn, by the way...
I can see why you call it 'CrackBook'. Definitely draws you in! I'm glad my cousin in Ottawa invited me in because now we keep in touch much more than before.
Hmmm - your cats are on FB? Maybe I'll get my carp, Caroline, onto it as well. Maybe your cats could become Caroline's friends.
@az
"nim" is a word? I dare ya to use it in a sentence! :p
And I see it's my turn again...
@pj
Actually, I've been calling it 'Facecrack' -- but both work, quite well.
@arch
well, on fb is the only place my cats and your carp could safely be friends, so there you go!
There is no such thing as 'new-found maturity'. The second suggestion sounds so high school, I thought that was just the MS type of shit. Just because there was or was not a good reason "back then", losing touch and then not considering them worthy of reappraisal is wrong. (it's not like they're going to ask you to help move!)
I haven't joined FB basically because I don't want anyone to find me. I didn't like them back then, so why would I like them now? Heh.
Playing nim isn't nearly as fun as playing scrabble. :)
I haven't the time for dealing with Facebook; way too many online commitments as it is. But I am joining Second Life for business reasons. What can I say, I'm stoopid.
Oh yes: the cat pinning question. Can we agree I win?
RC, come down when the cat needs to be pilled, and pin her then, not when she's hanging all loose and relaxed in the heat, with no threats looming. Then we can say you won.
But it was a promising sight -- I wanted to pass you a length of cord to tie her little legs together!
